Biography

Severin Scherrer, born in 1995 in Basel, began studying drums in 2002 with Florian Arbenz. He expanded his jazz expertise through workshops and music theory training, eventually earning a BA in Jazz Drums (2019) and an MA in Music Pedagogy (2022). He explores diverse styles, from gamelan music in Bali to jazz in various ensembles, including the experimental duo with Lennard Fiehn, the rhythmically complex Trio ORA, and the free improvisation-focused Trio SET. Severin also performs Southeast Asian music with the Saraswara gamelan orchestra.
