Lessons

My teaching is fundamentally based on an organic connection between two areas: technique and music. Technique is always a means to an end, helping to realize musical goals and ideas.

Technique is learned through combinatorial concepts and always integrated into a musical context. A combinatorial concept of a technical aspect can replace an entire book. It makes little sense to learn hundreds of written-out examples without understanding the core ideas and concepts behind them. The goal is to develop one’s own ideas and achieve high technical flexibility, enabling one to implement these ideas and adapt to any musical situation.

Furthermore, musical questions are explored, such as:

• What should I play at all?

• Which style? Binary, ternary?

• How do I create tension?

• What musical tools do I have to contribute to the music in a band context?

• What should I focus on when playing in a band?

This approach to teaching can be applied to all ages and skill levels.
